Pre-SeasonCream of the Crop Club
First Team
Position Name High School Class College Choice
Guard Jackie Lyons Reading Senior UNH
Guard Amy Lepley Bishop Feehan Senior Holy Cross
Forward Mary Nwachukwa Dighton-Rehoboth Senior BC
Forward Meredith Soper Arlington Catholic Senior Bryant
Center Katie Zenevitch Central Catholic Junior “Verbal” BC
“6th Man” Courtney Finn Winthrop Senior Bentley
Jackie Lyons She was named a Herald All Scholastic, averaged 18 points and 6 assists a game, and is what I call a “24/7” kid who would gladly play hoops instead of sleeping if she could figure out how…she flat out loves to play the game…Amy Lepley can score inside and out, can pass, rebound, and at 6’1” is a legit guard. She should have a great senior year and a fine career as a Holy Cross Crusader. Amy was also named both a Herald and Globe All Scholastic last year…BC bound Mary Nwachukwa led EMass in scoring last winter by pumping in more than 600 points…she was a Globe Super teamer and a Herald All Scholastic…This kid has an incredible future…Merri Soper is an “athulete”…at 6’ she can score outside and then blow by you to get to the cup. She could end her career at AC with more than 1,000 points AND 1,000 rebounds. She can cover bigs and guards. Kid can do it all on the court and is now off to D1 Bryant…She’s a junior now and 6’3” Katie Zenevitch has already told BC she’ll be an Eagle after 2 more high school seasons. She was a Herald All-Scholastic as a frosh and soph…she can do it all on the court…she blocks shots, bangs the boards, hits 3’s, sees the floor and can handle....Winthrop’s Courtney Finn was a Herald All-Scholastic the last 2 years and was also selected to the Globe Super Team last winter…This silky smooth southpaw can shoot the rock from all over the court and broke the 40 point mark against Watertown in the state tourney….she already has signed on to play for D2 Bentley Falcons and has scored over 1,300 points in her career with another year to go.
Second Team
Position Name High School Class College Choice
Guard Katy Howard Medway Senior Assumption
Guard Kate McDonald Durfee Junior Only a Junior
Forward Emily Trapp Whitman-Hanson Senior Saint Rose
Forward Amber Smith Ipswich Senior Maine
Center Kirsten Daamen Pentucket Senior Central Conn.
“6th Man” Valerie Driscoll Archbishop Williams Junior Only a Junior
Katy Howard is a kid I missed on last year but after seeing her in AAU last Spring that has ended. Girl has handle, can score, and defend. The coaching staff at Assumption are thrilled she is heading out to Worcester for the next 4 years…Kate McDonald is another point guard but a smaller version at 5’ 5” but don’t confuse size with talent. This kid has big hands and is one clever floor general. I love pass 1st points and she’s one of the best around…Emily Trapp is an athletic 6’1” kid who can score with the best of them. She was named to the Herald All Scholastic team and has already gone over the 1,000 point barrier. She will go down as perhaps the best player ever to suit up for W-H and is off to D2 Saint Rose in New York next fall…A Herald All-Scholastic the last 2 years, Amber Smith continues to fill up a stat sheet. She already is the all time leading scorer in Ipswich history with over 1,300 points and will be showing her skills as a Black Bear up in lovely Orono (is Pat’s Pizza still there?) to play D1 ball at Maine. …Pentucket’s Kirsten Daamen is 6’2” but plays so much bigger with that long wingspan…just ask any of her opponents as she is one of the most feared inside defensive forces in the state…She led her club to a 2nd straight Garden appearance last winter and will be off to D1 Central Connecticut next fall…The Archie’s have had some great talent the last few years and 6’ 4” Val Driscoll will now head to the top of that list this year AND next. This kid is a physical force in the paint and is getting some serious D1 interest.
Third Team
Position Name High School Class College Choice
Guard Mary Louise Dixon Wellesley Junior Only a Junior
Guard Ashley Viselli Pentucket Junior Only a Junior
Forward Reilly Poirier Cardinal Spellman Senior So. Conn.
Forward Katie Ganser Needham Senior Merrimack
Center Lauren Fiola Durfee Junior Only a Junior
“6th Man” Lauren Battista Oliver Ames Junior Only a Junior
All Mary Louise Dixon did in her 1st year as the point guard for Wellesley was lead her team to the D2 state title. This kid is another of those “pass 1st” points that I love to watch play…this kid has game…Ashley Viselli at 5’ 9” has the size and talent to basically play any position on the court. She’s a scorer 1st as that is what Pentucket needs her to do most but don’t overlook this kid’s total package…Reilly Poirier is a kid I have always enjoyed watching play as her focus on the court is always at 120%…she is the leader at Spellman now and will do whatever it takes to get the job done…she is heading to D2 Southern Connecticut and they will be very happy when she shows up on campus next year…Needham’s Katie Ganser at 6’ 1” has that long slinky look to her and that translates into a kid who can flat out play…kid has a good handle for a big, a nice touch from 15 feet and yet can bang inside just as well. D2 Merrimack is getting a good one…Lauren Battista of OA is a kid you just enjoy watching play the game…she can score, rebound, throws a great outlet pass, and best of all sees the floor and keeps her teammates all involved…”LB” is a playa!!
Fourth Team
Position Name High School Class College Choice
Guard Natalie Gomez Andover Sophomore Only a Soph
Guard Kelsey Roberson Arlington Catholic Senior Undecided
Guard Jamie White Masconomet Senior Undecided
Guard-Forward Allie Beaulieu Swampscott Senior Undecided
Center Sarah Collins Weymouth Senior Babson
“6th Man” Katerina Mallios Winthrop Senior Babson??
Natalie Gomez played in our showcase in September and looked really good…this kid has talent AND works at it real hard. She should have an outstanding sophomore year and could be one of the best ever at Andover when she graduates…Kelsey Roberson was always the off guard at AC but Coach Brady asked her to play the point mid way through last year and now that is paying dividends…this kid is super quick, can nail the “3” ball, defend and now she’s got the rock all the time and Merri Soper is glad she does…Jamie White is something to watch on the court…and I mean literally “on the court.” This kid goes at an incredible pace the full 32 minutes creating chaos and filling up a stat sheet. She’s the leader now and Masco Coach Romeo is glad to have her…Swampscott’s Allie Beaulieu is a shooter supreme who has a super high bball IQ. Kid shoots almost as well lefty as righty also…whatever campus she ends up on next fall will be getting a good one…Weymouth’s Sarah Collins is another I missed the boat on last year but she gets her props now…kid is long and very athletic and had a great day at our showcase…the Babson folks are thrilled she’s heading their way next year…Rina Mallios is 5’ 10” and can score inside and still step behind the arc and nail a “3.” She slashes to the hoop and gets to the line really well also…the Winthrop Vikings will miss her when she graduates…
Fifth Team
Position Name High School Class College Choice
Guard Hannah Cain Gloucester Sophomore Only a Soph
Guard Jenicia Duggins Lynn English Junior Only a Junior
Guard Brenna Gonsalves Coyle Cassidy Sophomore Only a Soph
Forward Jeanette Anderson Lynn English Senior Undecided
Center Courtney Donovan Bourne Senior Undecided
“6th Man” Jill Moses Dedham Senior Undecided
I saw Hannah Cain for the 1st time when she was an 8th grader and right away you knew she had game…kid gets better all the time and will continue to do so as she loves the game…Gloucester has a point guard who can also score…she’s a good one…Lynn English’s Jenicia Duggins is lightning quick so you have to give her space…give her space and she nails a “3”…now that’s a great combination!...Brenna Gonsalves is 5’ 10” so has the size to help on the boards…she also has a great handle and is a built-in fast break as she flies up the court…could be one of the best ever to play at Coyle Cassidy…Jeannette Anderson is just a beast on the glass…she just WANTS the ball when someone misses a shot…getting serious looks from D2 UMass Lowell also and Coach Hogan will miss her next year when she’s gone…Bourne ‘s Courtney Donovan is 6’ 2” so is a long presence inside but I love her stroke from out to 15 feet…Bourne will be a factor this year and she’s a prime reason…Dedham’s Jill Moses is a “double double” girl scoring like 16 a game with over 10 boards each night…very underrated in my eyes and a great all-around athlete being a league all star in 3 sports…
Sixth Team
Position Name High School Class College Choice
Guard Mieshia Reynolds New Mission Junior Only a Junior
Guard Becca Kimball Weston Senior Wellesley
Guard Cat Carey Reading Senior Mt. Holyoke
Forward Brittany Obi-Tabot Watertown Junior Only a Junior
Center Colleen Moriarty Canton Senior Undecided
“6th Man” Allie Pavao Coyle Cassidy Senior Undecided
New Mission is a D4 state title contender again and Mieshia Reynolds is a prime reason…she’s the point, was a star as a frosh when they won 2 years ago and look for her to be a star again this year…All Weston’s Becca Kimball does is put the pill in the hoop…girl is a scoring machine and will again be one of the best scorers in EMass…Cat Carey is another with great range on her shot and has a super quick release…when she gets on a roll…watch out…just ask Melrose last year when she nailed seven “3’s” in the state tourney to destroy them…She’s 6’ with real long arms so plays bigger…more like a 6’ 4” kid…Brittany Obi-Tabot just started tapping into her potential in the state’s last year when she started throwing up some serious “double doubles”…look for that to be a regular thing this winter…Colleen Moriarty is a long 6’ 2” kid who gets better all the time…Canton will be sad to see her graduate this year as she should be a big factor in them having a super season…Coyle’s Allie Pavao is a another 6’ kid but this one runs like a deer and regularly beats her defenders down the court as no one can keep up with her…another regular “double double” girl each and every night and this will not change this year…
