Mary Louise Dixon finishes her career as a 1,000 point scorer and one of the best players ever to wear a Wellesley uniform. She helped lead Wellesley to the 2008 D2 state title and a 38 game win streak over 2 years…She scored 18 PPG with 5 assists, was named a Herald and Globe All Scholastic, and is heading to play for D2 Stonehill to play the point for that NE 10 powerhouse…they are getting a good one…Wellesley teammate Blake Dietrick is a 3 sport star who has a hard time figuring which sport is her best…in lacrosse she was named an All-American and is getting recruited by the top 10 D1 colleges in the US but her heart may be with the hoop game as this year she was named a Herald All Scholastic and also scored her 1,000th point on the court and finished the year scoring 20 PPG while also being the leading rebounder and 2nd in assists…tough decisions will need to be made for a college choice next year and she’ll have a lot of them…Natalie Gomez was a Herald Dream Teamer and Globe All Scholastic again this season and is a super talented kid who fills up a stat sheet each and every night. She led her club to the D1 state title and scored 25 in the championship game…she handles the rock all the time, defends, and rebounds along with scoring over 15 PPG including hitting for her 1,000th point…kid will get some serious D1 college interest next year…Nicole Boudreau is perhaps the best shooter these eyes have seen in about 15 years of watching girls high school ball…kid had 2 games this year scoring over 40 and averaged 21 PPG…named to the Herald Dream Team and a Globe All Scholastic as a sophomore is an amazing feat…Lauren Battista was named the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year and another Herald Dream Teamer and Globe All Scholastic who had a fabulous high school career ending with the D2 state title. “LB” scored 23 PPG and is heading to play for Bentley (Holy Cross was so disappointed) next fall and the Falcons are getting a terrific talent. She graduates as the all-time leading scorer in the storied history of Oliver Ames basketball and is one of the all time greats ever to play at OA….Central Catholic’s 6’3” Katie Zenevitch has now put the cap on one of the best high school careers a kid can have and will go down as the best ever to suit up at Central Catholic…She was a Herald Dream Teamer for the 2nd time this year and been honored as a Herald All Scholastic her other 2 years and also a Globe All Scholastic…She scored over 1,500 points with over 1,200 rebounds in this incredible run and BC must be thrilled to finally be getting her on the court next winter...Holy Cross bound Christine Ganser is another who leaves the Needham Rockets as one of the best ever to play at that school…she was named to both the Herald and Globe All Scholastic squads, scored over 21 a game this year and over 1,400 points in her career while also pulling down over 800 rebounds…she will be sorely missed by Coach Benzan… This kid is another sophomore sensation who can do it all on the court…bang inside, post up there, and still step behind the arc and knock down 3’s…Liz Belanger had one 3 game stretch this year where she “averaged” about 34 a game…she ended up averaging 21 PPG for the season and was named the MVP of the DCL…and still has 2 more years of high school ball left…The Archie’s 6’ 4” Val Driscoll pumped in over 20 a game this year and finishes her sterling career with her 4th straight trip to the Garden…kid was named to both the Herald Dream team and also a Globe All Scholastic…she also grabbed her 1,000th career rebound to go along with being a 1,500 point scorer…not many players can claim they hit that daily double…she graduates as one of the best ever to play for the Archie’s and is now off to ply her trade with Big 10 D1 power Michigan…Brittany Obi-Tabot is long and lean with big hands who keeps getting better and better all the time and the story I hear is that she was only 16 years old in this her senior year so this youngster has a huge upside when she hits the hardwood at D1 Fairfield next season…she averaged 21 PPG this year and also hit the magic 1,000 point level ending her career with over 1,300 points and 1,200 rebounds. She was named both a Herald and Globe All Scholastic, the MVP of the Middlesex League, and her talents will be impossible to replace at Watertown next year.

Lindsey Roche was like a coach on the floor for Dave Brady’s Cougars and was so unselfish she had to be “reminded” by Brady to shoot more…this kid loves the game and will be a terrific player and teammate when she heads out to Worcester to suit up for D2 Assumption next year…she also has a high pain threshold as she played the last month of the season with a stress fracture in her foot…quite an accomplishment to play so well under such adversity…Lindsey was also named a herald All Scholastic…Amy Pelletier is a point guard who can also shoot the rock…kid can flat out play…another who is incredibly unselfish on the court but yet can score well enough that she had 31 with 8 three’s in a state tourney tilt…she will someday make a college coach very, very happy when she makes her decision on the school choice.…Stonehill bound Asia Ewing had a terrific career at Westford especially this year where she scored over 18 a game and averaged a double double…she also broke the 1,000 point mark…this kid is 5’10, rugged, athletic, and has a high motor…she has been a leader for the Grey Ghosts for 4 years but never more so than this year playing D1 for the 1st time and almost downing state champ Andover losing by only 2 in the tourney…Asia was named a Herald and Globe All Scholastic…Lauren Fiola was a “double-double” machine her entire career at Durfee but it was even harder to do this year as she played in pain with a hip injury that needs surgery yet still averaged 18 PPG with 10 boards…and she also managed to get to the 1,000 point level and led the Hilltoppers to the D1 South finals before bowing out to Mansfield at the Garden…Coach O’Neill at D2 UMass Lowell is getting a good one the next 4 years…Rashidat Agboola is 6’ tall and can sky with the best of them…She scored 25 PPG this winter and passed the coveted 1,000 point mark as well ending with over 1,400 points in her career at Methuen…she was named both a Herald and Globe All Scholastic…this kid is so talented she is another D1 college scholarship kid heading to play for BU next winter…Brenna Gonsalves is a 5’ 10” junior who also excels in track and field…she has already broken the 1,000 point barrier with still another year of high school ball left…she was named a Herald All Scholastic and with a strong senior year next winter I think she will be remembered as one of the best ever to play at Coyle Cassidy…this multi-sport star is another who will be highly sought by multiple schools for more than one sport…I just love her speed as she is devastating in the open court on the break…

“6th Man” Sophie Bikofsky Newton South Junior Only a Junior
Erin McNamara had a superb career and should go down as one of the best guards ever to wear a Pentucket uniform. She handled the point flawlessly and was the best shooter on the team scoring over 15 PPG with deadly 3 point range and was also almost automatic at the foul line…she was named both a Herald and Globe All Scholastic and she also broke the 1,000 point mark this year…she got to play 4 years for her dad in what was the most glorious run in Sachem history as this class had a 91 and 9 record during this 4 year run…talk about having quality time between a father and his daughter…doesn’t get any better than this!…Jenicia Duggins graduates as the school’s all time leading scorer with over 1,400 for her career including 36 in a game with Salem this year as she scored 22 PPG. She was named a Herald All Scholastic and also MVP of NEC…the kid has been doing it all for Lynn English for 4 years now…she can get to the hoop, play dynamite “D”, see the floor and knock down the 3 and will be greatly missed by Coach Hogan next year…Kristen Hoffman was incredible for Foxboro this year breaking the 1,000 point barrier and leading her club to beating Oliver Ames on opening night…the only team in the state to defeat OA…she was named a Herald All Scholastic …she plays both guard spots and she should go on and have a great 4 year run up at St. A’s…Nicole Beresford is 6’ tall with guard skills and 3 point range…she was named to the Herald All Scholastic team for a 2nd time and broke the magic 1,000 barrier early this year and is also now the school’s all time leading scorer…she overcame a cracked bone in her wrist and some leg problems this year but still scored over 15 a game…this junior scoring machine will be back for her senior year next winter to add to these impressive totals…she is getting numerous inquiries from D1 college coaches in addition to the D2 and D3 schools who would also love to have her come to their campuses...The late James Brown was often called “the hardest working man in show biz…” I think of James Brown when I watch Tori Faieta play as she is probably the hardest working girl in EMass hoops…kid gives 110% on the court every second and it shows with her results…she has already broken the 1,000 point AND 1,000 rebound mark with still another year of high school left which makes Coach Newhall a very happy guy…Tory was named a Herald All Scholastic this year for all her hard work…Sophie Bikofsky is a kid who can shoot the rock scoring about 16 a game and at 5’10 can handle, rebound and defend…this silky smooth southpaw with legit guard skills who I think will get better and better as she continues to work at her game…kid should have some great interest from a lot of college coaches.

If you have heard her sing the national anthem then you know this kid is multi-talented on and off the court…her game is sweet music to Coach Downer’s ears as Gabie Polce is one talented and tough point guard…named one of the captains as a junior this year she is truly a leader for this group and will be again next winter...Brianna Hunt is a kid who can do it all on the court…hit the “3”…handle…see the floor…defend…she is a perfect piece in the Newton North puzzle scoring almost 20 PPG as this club rose up high this season and should go even higher next winter with talent like this kid back for more…Danielle DePierro had a superb senior season scoring her 1,000th career point, averaging over 23 PPG, and ending her career pumping in 44 points against Melrose in her final state tourney game…the Melrose folks said she was in a zone and could not be stopped…kid has a great handle and a nice shake and bake drive to the goal…this Herald All Scholastic will be a nice surprise to some college coach when she makes her decision on what school she will attend next year…Kellie McDonald is long and lean and the leader of a young and talented Danvers group and she still has another season to go…she is smooth inside and has a pretty shooting stroke from 15’ or so and scored over 16 PPG plus she’s a “Windex” kid cleaning the glass every night…One look at 6’1 Tori Lehr and you say “that girl must play hoops.” And boy does she play the game…she is strong, runs like a deer, can hit the turnaround jumper and block shots…She scored almost 14 PPG and was named South Shore League Player of the Year…Cohasset will miss her when she is gone next year…but the fairly new coaching staff at St. A’s is thrilled she’s heading North to play for this up and coming D2 club… Niesha Kelly had a stellar senior season at New Mission leading her club to the City championship scoring 29 points and almost recording a triple double…she was the City League MVP, named a Herald All Scholastic and scored her 1,000th point this winter…this kid flies all over the floor on both ends and can get to the rack…I’m not sure where she is going to college but this talented and personable kid will be a welcome addition to whatever school is lucky enough to get her next season.

Colleen Hanscom is as solid as a rock on the court…she sees the floor…penetrates and kicks…can hit the “3”…she was a coach on the floor for Melrose this year and it truly showed in their great state tourney run to the Garden before OA ended their season…kid was a class act for Melrose pumping in almost 15 PPG and will be sorely missed by Coach Ferrante…Bria Tiro can score the ball for sure as she dropped in over 15 PPG this winter including 29 in a great road win over Spellman…she was the “outside” to Faieta’s “inside” game…a balance that Coach Newhall will be hard pressed to replace next year…her talents were recognized by D2 LeMoyne and she is heading to the upstate New York school to play there on a basketball scholarship in the tough NE 10…Djaidah Wynn gives Coach DeSantis another talented point guard type on the court with the combo of this dynamo and Briana Hunt…this kid flies all over the place on both ends of the court and will be a big part of what could be a very special season next winter in Newton… Cara Paladino will fool you as she plays inside a lot and is only about 5’8 and usually goes against kids 3 to 5 inches taller who probably think they can out board her and swat away all her shots…it doesn’t happen as this kid has the heart of a lion and can rebound with anyone and put the ball in the hoop from all different angles…kid kept the Cougars in the game with Melrose almost single handedly scoring 25 points…Johnna Fisher seems to get taller each time I see her…6’2 anyways…maybe more…Winthrop had a tough year but this kid didn’t…she will draw a lot of college interest next winter as a senior…Ashley Viselli graduates as Pentucket’s all-time leading scorer as she passed the coveted 1,000 point barrier this year averaging about 15 PPG…she was the “ying” to Erin McNamara’s “yang” as these two super players will be impossible to replace for the Sachems…Ashley was named a Herald All Scholastic and was a true all-around player averaging 7 boards, 4 steals, and 3 assists each night as well.

Tiana Johnson is lightning quick and is that pass first point guard I find so enjoyable to watch…kid can get to the rack with the best of them and score with either hand yet she also can dump it off to others inside into places I can’t even see…real bright future for this kid as her passing instincts are superb…Kendall Burton is another talented kid who can get to the rack with ease…kid can also pop from outside as she scored over 16 PPG…with her and Bikofsky together coach Sam Doner has this dream backcourt that all coaches envy (except maybe Tildsley at Andover…LOL)…Khadidjah Ellison is a hoop junkie who just seems to be playing hoops all the time…kid routinely can get you a triple double and Coach Boo Rice is thrilled to have her back for another season at Burke…she was named a Herald All Scholastic and is one of the highest ranked juniors in the state…Hannah Brickley appears to me to be a quiet unassuming kid off the court but her opponents sure know who she is on the court as her play speaks loud and clear as to what kind of player she was for Melrose the last 4 years…kid is truly a “brick” inside and had a super senior year being named a Globe All Scholastic, scoring close to 15 PPG along with being a true force on the boards…she may just focus on volleyball in college and that will be sooo disappointing to the hoop coach at whatever college she attends…Molly Breen finished her career as the all time leading scorer in Millis history for boys or girls with 1,360 points and also leaves as the all time leader in rebounds with close to 900. She led her team to the D4 state title as a junior leading Millis to the title scoring 28 points…Molly was also named to both the Herald and Globe All Scholastic clubs and also the MVP of the TVL…Alyssa Roach is 5’9 and can probably play any position on the court…big enough to board…fast enough to blow by people…can really hit the “3” ball…and plays 110% all 32 minutes…hope New Bedford can stay healthy all next year so more people can see this talented kid play…

Guard Ryia Newsome West Roxbury Senior Temple
Guard Amber Dillon Brookline Junior Only a Junior
Guard-Forward
Meredith Kelly Cohasset Senior Bates
Forward Alex Rurycz Barnstable Senior Maine (Ft. Kent)
Center Alexis Udoji Cardinal Spellman Junior Only a Junior
Ryia Newsome is a kid who doesn’t get much ink but certainly was
noticed by the college coaches as she is off to play for D1 Temple next
year…kid is small but has a huge heart and is lightning quick…Amber Dillon is a 5’8 whirling dervish
who is lightning on the court and can get to the hoop on anyone…great handle
and sees the floor really well…she led Brookline scoring over 16 PPG this
winter…Meredith Kelly is another
talented kid who often goes under the radar screen but with 2 state titles on
her resume in 4 years of high school ball, there aren’t many kids who can make
that claim…kid seemed to come up big in the biggest games pumping in 20 against
Hull and 19 in the state title game against Manchester…she was named to the
Herald All Scholastic team and she does it in the classroom as well and is off
to play for Coach Jim Murphy at Bates next winter…Alexis Udoji is long…real long…and at 6’4
is a game changer inside with her phenomenal shot blocking abilities including
a school record 20 blocks in ONE game against Fenwick…kid had numerous triple
doubles and is an amazing force on the court for Coach Lamb who will be glad to
welcome her back for her senior year next winter… Alex Rurycz may be somewhat of an
unknown North of the Cape but this kid can play…girl has guard skills and is
close to 6 feet tall…she is not only talented but an outgoing and personable
kid who loves the game…she is off to play for D2 NAIA power UMaine
at Fort Kent next winter and the coach and her teammates will love her enthusiasm
playing this game…

Guard Ashleigh Condon Hull Senior Don’t Know
Guard Lizzy Ball Manchester Essex Junior Only a Junior
Guard Kelsey Garrity Somerville Junior Only a Junior
Guard-Forward Alexis Peters Fontbonne Senior Don’t Know
Center Hannah O’Flynn Ipswich Junior Only a Junior
Senior point guard Ashleigh Condon was a solid all-around
force for Hull…a kid who could score yet was the point guard who always led her
club in assists and was a pickpocket on the court when it came to steals…she was
a great floor leader for Hull and will be difficult to replace…not sure what
college she is attending but that coach will be very happy to have her the next
4 years…Lizzy Ball is another one who loves the game
and works at it all the time…the kid averaged over 17 PPG and seemed to play
her best ball in the state tourney before losing in the state title game to
Cohasset for the 2nd time in her 3 years…with more high school ball
ahead of her, more and more college coaches will start picking up the
recruiting scent on this talented and hardnosed hoopster… Kelsey Garrity is another kid you have
trouble getting out of the gym due to her passion for the game…she plays the
game in a true “all-around” fashion…kid just constantly fills up a stat
sheet…points, boards, steals, assists, block a shot…yes even a turnover now and
then…she has been around the game her whole life with her dad Paul and older
brother Mark and she learned all the
lessons really well…this GBL Co-MVP has a shot to hit the 1,000 point mark next
winter and if she does will become only the 5th player (boys or
girls) to do so in the rich and storied tradition of Somerville High hoops…Alexis Peters hit the 1,000 point
barrier this year and led her team to the D2 South finals before the Ducks
bowed out of the state tourney losing to Oliver Ames in a beauty…she was named
both a Herald and Globe All Scholastic and will be missed next year…Hannah O’Flynn
had a true breakout season this year scoring over 20 PPG while hauling in
almost 12 rebounds each night in leading Ipswich to a superb year…this smooth 6
footer was named the CAL D2 Player of the Year…she is as athletic as they come
for her size and she’ll be back again next winter to continue grabbing lots of
ink in the press with her talents…

I thought I would throw out these kids names for some special recognition as they have been greatly setback by off-season injuries…..Kate McDonald is a kid I love to watch play as she is as clever a point guard as there is around…unfortunately she tore her ACL in a fall AAU tourney and she missed her senior season…her talents are so good however that the #1 team in D2, Franklin Pierce still offered her a scholarship and they will be getting a good one…Jackie Francona is still another with an ACL injury and I’m not sure if she made it back or not as I didn’t see Brookline play so hopefully she did play the 2nd half of this her sophomore season…Dyamond Gardner tore her ACL early in the 1st game of the year against Lowell. Kid is a 20 PPG scorer so hopefully she comes back 100% as she is huge for Cambridge…Ditto for Melissa DalPozzo who also tore her ACL in the 1st game for Reading this year. This kid will be an impact player for Reading when she returns to the court next season at 100%...Lindsey Jones missed like 5 games with a concussion and I also saw her in a boot at the state tourney game with Somerville with I believe a stress fracture…another talented kid that I hope comes back at 100% next year for her senior season…Keisha Jean-Louis tore a cartilage in her knee about mid-season and played in pain in all the games that she did get to play the 2nd half. So though she did get to play in some games, she was never close to 100% during that period.
