Wellesley’s Blake Dietrick just ended one superb high school career and now moves on to play for the D1 Princeton Tigers. She is a 3 sport star and in lacrosse she was ranked the 34th best player in the US in one ranking. Blake is Wellesley’s all time leading scorer for both boys and girls in both basketball with 1,440 points and also in lacrosse. She was a McDonald’s All America nominee, a Herald Dream Teamer, a Globe All Scholastic (finally), and an ESPNBoston all state player. She excels in the classroom (2,290 out of 2,400 on her SAT’s) and that’s why she got into maybe the top school in the nation (Princeton)…she is also personable and one of the most polite kids you will meet…Natalie Gomez-Martinez has been the catalyst for 4 years with her hops before the games and also when she claps her hands getting psyched to play “D.” She has been nominated as a McDonald’s All American, was a Herald Dream Teamer and Globe All Scholastic again this year as well as being named to ESPNBoston’s all state team. She ends her career with 1,412 points and 2 state titles also on her resume. She is heading to D1 Marist, a team that has made the D1 NCAA Tourney 6 straight years. They have to be thrilled getting a kid with her incredible winning background plus her passion and talent for the game.…Nicole Boudreau was named the Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year and is probably the best player I’ve seen in the state in my 15 years of watching girls high school ball…and she still has another year of high school ball left. She averaged over 23 PPG and has scored 1,585 points to date and has a great shot at breaking into the highly exclusive 2,000 point club before her career is done. She was named to the Herald Dream Team and a Globe All Scholastic again also…plus she is another on ESPNBoston’s all state team… she has verballed to Boston so her college choice is set. She is a superb defender with almost 5 steals per game, a surprising shot blocker and rebounder and sees the floor with almost 4 assists each night. This kid can do it all on the court (including jumping center each night) and could also lead her Andover club to its 3rd straight state D1 title next season…Amy Pelletier is a point guard who can also fill it up scoring about 19 PPG including a pumping in 31 against North Reading in a state tourney game…she also got her 1,000th point this season…kid can flat out play and was named a Herald all scholastic …she has always been incredibly unselfish on the court (6 assists a game) and that along with her scoring talents will make her very popular with the Stonehill coaches and players when she shows up on campus next fall…Sophie Bikofsky is a sweet stroking southpaw who can really shoot the pill…kid hit the 1,000 point barrier this season while averaging almost 19 a game and pulling down 7 boards a night…this bright and personable kid made both the Herald and Globe all scholastic teams plus ESPNBoston’s all state team and was co-MVP of the DCL…she was also a McDonald’s All American nominee…she is a natural shooting guard at 5’10 who should have an excellent college career at D1 Brown in the Ivy League.…should be some fun rivalry games when Brown plays Princeton and Sophie goes against AAU teammate Blake Dietrick the next 4 years…Brenna Gonsalves is a 5’ 10” speedball on the court who was a McDonald’s All America Nominee. She is a Globe and Herald all scholastic and was also named to the ESPNBoston’s all state team. She also was named the female winner of the 22nd annual Dave Cowens Achievement Award. She graduates as the all time leading scorer in school history for both boys and girls with 1,615 points…I think she will be remembered as the best ever to play at Coyle Cassidy…this multi-sport star is taking her talents to Long Island to play for D2 Adelphi next year… Brooke Stewart really grew this year as a player and was one of the best I saw all season. This smooth 5’11 southpaw did it all for Coach Bob Romeo’s Masco crew and was named a Herald all scholastic. Kid is a natural guard with great 3 point range who scored 20 PPG…yet she can bang inside on the boards…go strong to the goal…you name it this kid can do it…she is a tireless worker who should get some good D1 interest next year…Kellie MacDonald was called “the ultimate teammate” by her coach earlier this season. Position Name High School Class College Choice Guard Tiana Johnson New Mission Junior Only a Junior Guard Hannah Cain Gloucester Senior Brandeis Forward Casey McLaughlin Central Catholic Sophomore Only a Soph Forward Liz Wluka Sharon Senior Syracuse Center Ashley LeBlanc Methuen Senior New Haven “6th Man” Erin Doherty Marshfield Junior Only a Junior
Tiana Johnson is that consummate pass first point guard that I love to watch. This kid can score also as she averaged over 22 a game in the state tourney. She was named the Boston City League MVP and also a Globe and Herald all scholastic. This kid was a huge addition to New Mission this year and when she graduates after next season some college coach will be thrilled to have this kid running the point for them for 4 years…Hannah Cain missed most of her junior year with a knee injury but boy did she make up for it this season. She scored her 1,000th career point and led her Gloucester crew to the D2 North final before losing to AC…the kid at 5’7 had multiple triple doubles and was an amazing rebounder for her size and the fact she is the point guard…Brandeis is getting a real good one and one that I think some of the D2 coaches will be wondering how they missed out on her…Casey McLaughlin was good as a freshman for Sue Downer’s Central Catholic club but who knew this kid would improve by leaps and bounds this winter? She raised her scoring average from 4 to over 16 a game while also pulling down 8 boards a night. She was named MVP of the tough Comcast Tourney and has already been named a co-captain for her junior season next year…what a future for this kid especially with her high motor and work ethic…you know she will never be satisfied with her play on the court and will constantly work to improve…Liz Wluka is a kid I flat out missed on…I always talk about “double doubles” and this gilr did it in 20 of 22 games this season…she captained 3 sports, was a Globe all scholastic and was named MVP of the rugged Hockomock League…sorry Liz for missing you…my bad… Methuen’s Ashley LeBlanc is long…real long at 6’2 and this kid has some excellent inside moves and also a real nice stroke from 15 feet…though often double and triple teamed she still managed to score over 13 PPG and grab over 10 rebounds a night this season. This kid has a huge upside and D2 New Haven recognized the potential awarding her a hoop scholarship.… Always been a fan of Erin Doherty’s game and she had another excellent season this year including pumping in 33 against Sandwich in a February game and scoring about 14 PPG for the year. She has played in the shadows of the great Nicole Beresford for 3 seasons but this kid has learned well and will be a force next season for the Rams and is already drawing some real good college interest and it is well deserved.

Guard Molly Brown Dartmouth Senior Bates Guard Alyssa Roach New Bedford Senior AIC Forward Carlene Kluge Reading Senior Bentley Center Johnna Fisher Winthrop Senior Central Conn. “6th Man” Olivia Healy Reading Sophomore Only a Soph Kelsey Garrity is a hoop junkie who you can’t get out of the gym. She became the 3rd female and only the 5th person in Somerville history to score 1,000 points. She did something totally selfless as she approached this coveted mark by also raising over $1,000 for cancer research this year. Her mom died of cancer when Kelsey was 3 and that motivated her to do this wonderful charitable act…a terrific idea from a player who had a great all-around career for the Highlanders. She also used her 6’2 frame to get 17 “double doubles” this year…she is off to play at D1 Central Connecticut after graduating in June…Reading’s Olivia Healy is a kid who is already getting some D1 looks as Providence saw her go for 29 in a Reading game this year and then I saw UMass Amherst at her game at Stoneham this season…at 5’10 she can play inside and rebound and score yet step outside behind the arc and nail a “3” and her numbers (17 PPG with 12 boards) prove that point…she was named both a Globe and Herald all scholastic and still has 2 more years of high school ball left…this kid will continue to draw tons of college interest going forward.…

Jen Gonsalves can flat out score the rock as she averaged almost 22 a game this year and has already broken the 1,000 point barrier with her senior year still to come. I don’t ever get to see Harwich play but those numbers speak for themselves and those who do see her regularly say she is a talented kid…Old Rochester’s Kelsey Johnson is a kid who has been throwing up great all-around numbers throughout her high school career and broke the 1,000 point barrier this year…kid can handle the rock and score both inside and out. She has some D2 and D3 interest and I could not find what her college decision is but whatever school she chooses to attend next year will be getting a good one…Shelby Santini graduates from Winchester as the all time leading scorer in the history of the girls program. This kid can pretty much play any position as she is tall enough to play inside yet has an excellent handle, can shoot the “3” ball and has all the guard skills to play either backcourt spot. She is playing D2 ball next winter at Southern New Hampshire…Khadidjah Ellison is a hoop junkie who just seems to be playing hoops all the time…and it has paid off as she is heading south to play at Mississippi State, a D1 club that plays in the rugged Southeast Conference…kid routinely can get you a triple double and she will be impossible to replace after she graduates from Burke this year…she was named to the ESPNBoston all state team and was ranked the 44th best player in her class nationally by ESPNU…Melissa Miller has been an inside force for Sue Downer’s Central Catholic crew for 4 years and that toughness will be greatly missed next winter. She is another off to the NE 10 as she will ply her wares at D2 Merrimack the next 4 years…Hannah O’Flynn had another super season scoring over 18 PPG and becoming only the 4th girls to join the 1,000 point club in Ipswich history. Kid also hauled down a ton of rebounds each night as well in leading Ipswich to a superb year…this smooth 6 footer was named the CAL D2 Player of the Year and a Globe all scholastic…she is as athletic as they come (many think track is her best sport) for her size and will be heading to D1 Dartmouth next year.…

Chloe Rothman is like a coach on the floor for Sam Doner’s quintet as she distributes the rock to her killer bee teammates Bikofsky and Burton but you can’t back off of Rothman or she’ll bury a 3 ball on you…kid is also a superb ball handler and is another off to play in the rugged D2 NE 10 Conference at Merrimack…Westwood’s Molly McLaughlin had to really step it up this season as her 4year running mate Erin Young was really hampered by injuries…This kid did exactly that and was named a TVL all star…She is heading to Skidmore next year and will take her clever point guard skills and that shake and bake dribble to New York for the next 4 years…Amber Dillon is a 5’8 whirling dervish who is lightning on the court and tough to cover…kid scored her 1,000th career point his year while averaging 15.3 PPG. Position Name High School Class College Choice Guard Briana Hunt Newton North Senior Franklin Pierce Guard Erin Young Westwood Senior Babson Guard-Forward Ara Talkov Swampscott Sophomore Only a Soph Forward Samantha Mangano Winchester Senior New Haven Forward/Center Alee Leteria Hopkinton Junior Only a Junior
Brianna Hunt got a concussion in the 1st game of the year and could not return to the court until late January. Her injury combined with others severely impacted what looked like a very promising year for Newton North. This talented and dedicated combo guard will take her talents to play for perennial D2 power Franklin Pierce the next 4 years… Babson bound Erin Young is a tough kid who tried many times to overcome a bad ankle injury but finally had to shut it down this year and have surgery to fix the problem…she is one of the deadliest 3 point shooters around and a terrific kid who will give Babson a nice long range dimension next fall.… Ara Talkov is only a sophomore and thank God she has 2 more seasons to make up for the frustrating high ankle injury that pretty much wiped out this season. This kid can play and at 5’11 has legit 2 guard skills and having her back at 100% next season will be huge for the Big Blue… Sam Mangano is a long 6 footer with great 3 point range. I knew something was wrong with Winchester when I started seeing the team scores in the 30’s…sure enough Mangano was out a ton of those games…though she did get on the court some of the time, we wish her the best of luck at New Haven and 100% health so she can have a great 4 years there…Alee Leteria had microfracture surgery and did not get on the court until late January. Once she did, the “Hillies” started rolling all the way to the Garden where she put on a brilliant display of how to shoot with both hands ending with 26 against AC…can’t wait to see her at 100% for a full season next winter.
