Storm’s 2010-2011 Pre-Season Cream of the Crop Club “Tom’s
Top 50” “The Best of the Best” Position Name High School Class College Choice Guard Blake Dietrick Wellesley Senior Princeton Guard Natalie Gomez Andover Senior Marist Guard Nicole Boudreau Andover Junior Verbal to BC Guard Amy Pelletier Bishop Fenwick Senior Stonehill Guard Sophie Bikofsky Newton South Senior Brown Guard-Forward Brenna Gonsalves Coyle Cassidy Senior Adelphi Forward Kellie McDonald Danvers Senior Williams Forward Elizabeth Belanger Acton Boxborough Junior Only a Junior Center Tory Faieta St. Mary’s of Lynn Senior Stonehill Center Leigha Tacey Foxboro Senior Bryant You can make a very good case that Wellesley’s Blake Dietrick is the best all-around hoopster in the state and also the best female athlete. She is a 3 sport star and her best sport may be lacrosse where she is ranked the 34th best player in the US in one respected ranking. At 5’10 she is an excellent rebounder leading the team last year plus she is a super 3 point shooter…can handle with the best of them…can really take the ball to the goal…will lead the team in assists this year…and usually covers the other team’s best player. She has been a Herald All Scholastic (come on Globe…get with it here) and also scored her 1,000th point already. She also is amazing in the classroom…you don’t get into maybe the top school in the nation (Princeton) without that type of cerebral ability and overall athletic and life skills…Natalie Gomez loves to play the game!!..I love it when she claps her hands to get ready to play “D.” She has been nominated as a McDonald’s All American, was a Herald Dream Teamer and Globe All Scholastic again last season and is a super talented kid who fills up a stat sheet each and every night. She led her club to the D1 state title and scored 25 in the championship game…she handles the rock all the time, defends, and rebounds along with scoring over 15 PPG including hitting for her 1,000th point…Marist has to be thrilled getting a kid with her passion and talent for the game.…Nicole Boudreau is the best shooter these eyes have seen in about 15 years of watching girls high school ball…she had 2 games last year scoring over 40 and averaged 21 PPG…named to the Herald Dream Team and a Globe All Scholastic as a sophomore is an amazing feat…Even more amazing is she has already verballed to Boston College who are lucky to know they already have this star wrapped up. She is another who could be called the best all-around player in the state as she is a surprising shot blocker who like all the Andover kids plays superb defense. This kid can do it all on the court and recently became the fastest player in Andover history to reach the 1,000 point barrier, an amazing feat in itself…all this and still has 2 more years of high school ball ahead…great news for Andover fans but not for opponents around the state…Amy Pelletier is a point guard who can also shoot the rock…kid can flat out play…another who is incredibly unselfish on the court but yet can score well enough that she had 31 with 8 three’s in a state tourney tilt last year…she will have to be even stronger this year as the Catholic League is incredibly tough this season…Stonehill is where she is heading and she will be a welcome sight the next 4 years down on that campus…Sophie Bikofsky is a southpaw and I always love the shooting stroke that lefty’s possess and she is no exception…she scored about 16 a game and at 5’10 can handle, rebound and defend…she is perfect size for a high level college guard and D1 Brown recognized all these attributes as she is headed down to Providence to play for this Ivy League school…should be some fun rivalry games when Brown plays Princeton and Sophie goes against AAU teammate Blake Dietrick the next 4 years…Brenna Gonsalves is a 5’ 10” speedball on the court who also excels in track and field…she has already broken the 1,000 point barrier and has a chance to graduate as the school’s all-time leading scorer for both boys and girls…she was named a Herald All Scholastic and I think she will be remembered as the best ever to play at Coyle Cassidy…this multi-sport star is taking her talents to Long Island to play for D2 Adelphi next year…Kellie McDonald is long and lean and the leader of a young and talented Danvers group that should have an excellent season this winter…she is smooth inside and has a pretty shooting stroke from 15’ or so and scored over 16 PPG plus she’s a “Windex” kid cleaning the glass every night…she is another one with a great head on her shoulders as she heads off to play at Williams the next 4 years.…Elizabeth Belanger ended up averaging 21 PPG last year despite seeing double teams almost everywhere she went on the court. This talented junior was named the MVP of the DCL and who can score inside and out, rebound in traffic, and see the floor for open teammates…she will be drawing a ton of interest from college coaches who would love to get her to sign on the dotted line when she eventually graduates from A-B…Stonehill bound Tori Faieta play as if every game will be her last as she is probably the hardest working girl in EMass hoops…kid gives 110% on the court every second and it shows with her results…she has already broken the 1,000 point AND 1,000 rebound mark and should lead her St. Mary’s club to a terrific season this winter…The coaches at D2 power Stonehill have to be thrilled she will be taking her great skills and work ethic down to North Easton for the next 4 years… Leah Tacey is another kid heading to play D1 college ball at Bryant…kid is 6’ and can bang inside or hit the 15 footer…she will also be a “double-double” kid each and every night for Coach Behn’s crew as she is a Windex kid who has always cleaned the glass. This smooth 5’11 southpaw can do it all on the court as she can play guard…hit the 3…rebound…go strong to the goal…she’ll be a real leader as a junior this season…Melissa Miller has been an inside force for Sue Downer’s Central Catholic crew for 3 years now…you will hear a lot about this kid with Katie Z having graduated as she should step up and into the limelight as her club continues its bitter rivalry with MVC foe Andover…she is another off to the NE 10 as she will ply her wares at Merrimack…Johnna Fisher seems to get taller each time I see her…6’2 anyways…maybe more…Winthrop had a rough go of it last year but this kid should lead them to a much better record this year…she is off to play at D1 Central Connecticut after graduating next June…Always been a fan of Erin Doherty’s game and I think she takes it to another level this year…saw her play a few times in the off season and she should (along with talented teammate Nicole Beresford) make Marshfield a contender this winter…she is already drawing some real good college interest and it is well deserved. She has some D2 and D3 interest and whatever school she chooses to attend next year will be getting a good one…Shelby Santini forms half of the dynamic duo with Sam Mangano that has led Winchester back into the mix for winning a Middlesex League title and being a big factor in D2 North and with two super seniors like these, Winchester should have an excellent season…Santini is the ball handler but is still big enough to help out inside while Mangano at 6’ can handle some inside work but may be even more comfortable out beyond the arc shooting 3’s…both are playing at the D2 level next year with Santini heading north to Southern New Hampshire and Mangano going south to New Haven…Methuen’s Ashley LeBlanc is long…real long at 6’2 and this kid has some excellent inside moves and also a real nice stroke from 15 feet…she runs the court extremely well and is very athletic…not sure where she is going to college but this kid has a huge upside and should have an excellent college career… Hannah O’Flynn was a revelation last season scoring over 20 PPG while hauling in almost 12 rebounds each night in leading Ipswich to a superb year…this smooth 6 footer was named the CAL D2 Player of the Year…she is as athletic as they come for her size and should lead Ipswich to another strong season this winter… Sixth

Team Position Name High School Class College Choice Guard Dyamond Gardner Cambridge Senior Undecided Guard Lauren Perra Taunton Senior Undecided Guard-Forward
Ara Talkov Swampscott Sophomore Only a Soph Forward Amanda Keane Wilmington Senior Undecided Center Tracey Ivan Plymouth South Senior Not Known
Dyamond Gardner is a true “diamond in the rough” as she continues to fly
under the radar screen…kid lost a year to a knee injury so not a lot of folks
talk about her game but it is a good one…look for her to throw out some
serious stats this winter in Cambridge…Lauren
Perra is like a waterbug
on the court…here, there, and everywhere as she is super quick…can handle…and
really shoot the 3 ball…with her at the controls I look for Taunton to
continue its rise in D1 South… Ara Talkov is only a
sophomore but this kid can play…she has legit 2 guard skills and should help
bring the Big Blue back into my rankings this winter…I forgot to list her
name last year and got an e-mail to help me out…boy did I miss out on her
game last season but not any more…Amanda
Keane has overcome some injury issues and now healthy had an excellent
AAU season that should show some good dividends this winter…kid loves the
game and is non-stop out there on the court…at 5’11 this kid has guard skills
but her board work and inside game may make her more valuable inside…that
said do not leave her alone on the outside either as she can knock down a 15
footer with ease as well…I don’t get down to Plymouth way at all but wish I
could as Tracey Irvan
is a kid who can play…at 6’2 she is really long and allows her to be a triple
double threat almost every night with scoring, rebounds, and blocked shots… Eighth

Megan Otto is a kid who fills up the stat sheet each night as the kid has 3 point range yet at 5’11 can play inside and be strong on the boards…she is also one of those kids who finds a way to score in many different ways…Molly Brown can flat out shoot the rock especially behind the 3 point arc. Kid scored almost 20 a game last year and should be just as proficient if not more this year…whatever college she is heading to will be getting a good one…Tori Fenn is a beast on the boards and scoring inside who is one of the key pieces to what should be a very interesting club down Fall River way with 4 talented starters returning…Taunton is a club that continues to improve and their record should reflect it this year and a big cog in this rise will be the play of a tall and athletic kid named Gracie Harrigan…kid is 6 foot and can score inside and out and who I think has a chance to be a good one…Tess Cigliano is an interesting unknown who at 6’2 has an excellent inside game…kid is the top student in Lowell High’s senior class and is looking at schools like BC and Providence for academic and not hoop reasons… Honorable Mention Seniors
